Ratan Tata, an industrialist with a clear vision of the future, made an undisclosed investment in the senior companionship business Goodfellows on August 16. Shantanu Naidu founded Goodfellows, who happened to be Ratan Tata’s business assistant and a general manager in Tata’s office.
Goodfellows is a paid service that matches senior folks with recent college graduates has completed a six-month beta phase in Pune. The organization plans to expand in Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The firm seeks to provide companionship to needy and lonely senior citizens as a service.
Ratan N. Tata extended his thoughts on the investment and said,
The bonds between the two generations created by Goodfellows are very meaningful and are helping to address an important social issue In India. I hope the investment helps the young team at Goodfellows grow.
Shantanu Naidu, the founder of Goodfellows, commented on the generous investment by stating,
The startup emphasizes that companionship means different things to different people. To some, it may mean watching a movie, narrating stories from the past, going on a walk, or quiet company sitting around doing nothing together, and we are here to accommodate it all. Mr. Tata’s investment in our venture further is a huge source of encouragement to our dedication to this concept
Goodfellows plans to organize monthly events on the platform to foster interaction between older citizens and provide an amiable, pleasant and relaxed setting.
